Whether we like it or not, our hair color tends to change a little, or a lot, over the summer. Personally, my dark brown locks get lighter as I spend more and more time outside, no matter what I do to protect them.
For some gals, playing the color switch up game is intentional. It’s a fun time to play around and change up your look. What does it take to care for our hair at any color, or enhance the natural hues? Glamour mag helps fill in the blanks. Here are the best looks to try out for the next few months:
Try adding some movement to your locks by letting your roots grow out a little, and add a softer finish at the ends.
Spending a long day at the beach? Slick your hair into a bun or ponytail with gel. Throughout the day, you won’t have to worry about looking drab. Even if you sweat, it will stay polished.
Honey-blonde hair is said to be the best for shine serums or shine finishing treatments. If you want ultra shiny hair all summer long, consider going a few shades darker. The sun picks up high-lights and low-lights easily on this hue.
Not sure how to switch it up? Consider a color in between blonde and brunette, and let it lighten up naturally as the summer goes on.
Similar to honey-blonde, a very light brown will pick up shine easily and reflect the natural light of the sun.
A few auburn highlights sprinkled throughout the bottom half of hair will show off its movement and give it added depth. A messy low bun is always the way to go for a long, hot day. The messier it gets, the better it looks.
Ultra dark hair always looks beautiful slicked back with shine serum. Take it the next step with a sharp middle part.

There is not a lot Nicole Richie hasn’t done. She shaved her eyebrows off when she was 11, had a hit reality show, and now is one of the top fashion icons…all while still saving time to tend to her at home garden. This past weekend at the Lucky Mag weekend, I found out that she wears dresses because her daughter loves it, and it was also her daughters request that she dye her hair lilac. While Richie looks like a princess in the eyes of her daughter, she showed up to FABB looking nothing short of glam rock. The piece that grabbed my attention? Her over-sized Givenchy floral blazer. Can’t afford to drop a cool $3,000? No problem. Here are some other floral options perfect for Spring!
1. Markus Lupfer floral sweatshirt. 2. Milly racer-back dress. 3. Koral floral skinny jeans. 4. Cartonnier botanical blazer. 5. Topshop floral shirt. 6. Alice & Olivia floral party skirt.

One thing that I always make sure I take great care of, is my nails. When you meet someone and go to shake their hand, it’s one of the first things that’s noticed. All winter, I wore shades of navy blue, gray, and black polishes. At the first hint of sunlight, I switched over to bright polishes. For the last few weeks, I have been loving pastels. They aren’t obnoxious, are appropriate for every situation, and I never get sick of looking at them. More specifically, the Blue Orchid shade from Deborah Lippman’s latest Spring collection. The pastel is an updated trend for spring, and I don’t see it going away anytime soon. What’s your favorite shade to rock?
