There are some things, basic & normcore or not, that will always be a staple in my closet. A great plaid shirt is one of them. On its own or layered, a plaid shirt not only provides warmth, but also an added element of depth to your look. Plaid is not limited to lumberjack like, boxy button downs, but is now streamlined by some of the most fashionable brands in existence. Grunge may have had its moment in the 90s, but that doesn’t mean ladies of style have to shy away from it today.

Altuzarra for Target has been the talk of the fashion world since it was announced, and for good reason. The collection is full of beautiful hues, figure flatting shapes, and low cost meets high end glam. Usually not a fan of designer/mass retail collaborations, I was skeptical about this one too. Altuzarra proved me wrong, and I scooped up a draped wrap dress in an alluring burgundy, perfect for the holidays. The best part? It was only $39.99.

Just because summer is coming to a close, certainly does not mean we have to take on a teary goodbye with fun colors. The stigma that comes with Fall, is that color must go out the door, and a neutral wardrobe of black, greys, and brows must take over. A jewel tone coat can turn any frown upside down, with the ease of draping one over the shoulders. Bright colors will never be “out” and add the special “pop” a bland outfit needs. Kate Spade currently has some of my favorites, so browse away.

A romper for fall? Don’t write my craziness off quite yet. I stumbled upon this black, woven romper on the Guess website. It’s the perfect base for fall layering. The tuxedo like front keeps it classy, while the bow tie at the neckline adds an ultra-feminine touch. Throw a long cardigan on over this with a leather jacket, and you are ready for whatever the day throws at you.

If boots could kill, this one would knock them dead.
I am a huge fan of transitional pieces that can take me from day to night considering that I am often bouncing between classes, meetings, and events. A great shoe can make an outfit, which is why I’ve been relentlessly searching the interweb for the perfect fall boot. Behold, the Stuart Weitzman ‘Demiswoon’ Over the Knee Boot. If I could only buy one thing this fall, hands down, these would be it. The rubber wedge makes them easy to wear all day, and durable enough to run around the city streets in. The stretchy material would fit perfectly over dark wash jeans. throw on a white t shirt and leather jacket, good to go.
So…can the shoe gods just send these to my door…or? I’ll be waiting.
