Athletic clothing has been a constant staple in fashion for as long as anyone can remember. Just because you don’t play a sport, does not mean you can’t pretend. After all, everyone looks cute in a little white tennis dress.
Over the last few years, I’ve taken to collecting Lacoste tennis dresses. They’re easy to throw on with flats or sandals, wick away sweat from the heat because of the fabric, and don’t get too heavy or irritating because they’re meant to be light and airy. Pretty much the perfect combo for hot summer days.
In the past few runway seasons, we have seen designers take a turn back to old school styling with uber preppy looks. Bright polos with golf skirts, sweater sets, neoprene matching sets. You can get the look for a fraction of the cost, and never look back on photos thinking “Oh I wore that?!”

Last week I was asked to describe my “signature look” for an editorial. Although I have a strong sense of self, style included, I stumbled to an answer. What is my thing? After turning this over for a little while, I came to the conclusion that while my style is ever changing depending on how I feel when I get up that day, I always have a sporty element to my look. A floral skirt with a varsity jacket, a spring dress with a baseball hat…you get the picture. Spring is all about bright colors, sporty knits, and the midi skirt, so here is what I’ll be mixing into my closet.
1. Nike Patterned Spandex Shorts. 2. Nike Colorful Windbreaker. 3. Adidas White T. 4. Adidas Polka Dot Jacket. 5. Nike Windbreaker Poncho. 6. Adidas Black Hat.

Chic comfort is the name of the game, and lately, I am all about it. During the week, I pack as much into every single day as possible, and the night usually ends with an event. While I love my fast paced life, I use the weekends to slow down and take a step back. This also means giving my feet a break from my beloved wedges and strappy Jimmy Choo sandals that I never seem to take off. My weekend style is casual, but never sloppy. I layer to the extreme, throw on zippered sweats, and a great pair of sneakers to run to brunch, or the farmers market, a meeting…wherever the day takes me. Wearing head to toe black is a no-brainer for me. However, Spring is just starting to peak its head around the corner, so out come the pops of color. My personal favorite right now is a bright solar blue pair by Adidas, called the Energy Boost 2.0., which you can easily pick up for yourself at Finish Line. They happen to match my favorite spring jacket, which makes it that much sweeter.

I really never thought I would see the day where I decided that I would write about…gasp….Adidas. The latest Adidas X Opening Ceremony collection opened my eyes. On the court, we are use to seeing track pants and tennis dresses flying by us, but now, designers are taking it to the streets. Adidas and Opening Ceremony collabed, once again, to make an effortlessly cool collection that will have even the most nonathletic person sprinting to the store. Thick stitching and leather elements take this collection to the next level, making sure you will stand out all Spring.
