Embroidered White

Saturday was the first (semi)relaxing day I had in a while. I took my math final in the morning, walked around Green City Market, and then relaxed in the sun. I picked up this simple cotton dress with bright blue embroidery on a vacation in December and am ecstatic that it is finally warm enough to wear it over a bathing suit.  …

Sunday Stripes

Brunch is one of my favorite meals of all time. When else can you eat breakfast foods, lunch, pastries, all topped off with a mimosa and have it be socially acceptable? Exactly. My family loves brunch at The Publican. The avocado scramble with a side of frites if my dish of choice.             My mom brought this dress home…

Homemade Cheez-Its

I have always enjoyed making meals for myself. When I got my first apartment Sophomore year of college, this consisted of tossing pasta with whatever ingredients were in my fridge. I can confidently say that I have come a long way from those days. Now I make homemade chicken pot pie, complicated side dishes, and mac and cheese from scratch. I would never think…

Flavour

Even in a huge city like Chicago, I somehow still manage to stick to to the same handful of restaurants that i know to be tried and true. Sifting through the big bad interweb can be overwhelming, and there are only so many competing “Top Ten” lists I can manage. Flavour is a new restaurant discovery app that allows you to search what…

1. What Should I Eat For Breakfast Today?  I stumbled upon this blog fairly recently when my boyfriend developed an egg allergy, and with the loss of eggs in his diet, came the loss of eggs for breakfast. With a morning staple gone, I turned to Marta Greber’s blog, which has archived hundreds of great breakfast recipes that are as delicious as they are…

Taste Talks Chicago    A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the Mother of Pearl dinner at Taste Talks Chicago. Oysters and sparkling wine were the perfect way to celebrate the start of the weekend, and we enjoyed Island Creek Oysters and a wine pairing cocktail hour followed by a delectable multi-course sit down dinner with wine pairings at Kinmont. The…

Unami Burger: “LA-based burger-world-conquering chain Umami Burger has just arrived in Chicago via Milwaukee Ave, and along with it, a menu that plays to the tongue’s fifth taste known as “umami,” aka the Japanese term for “savory meatiness,” aka “whoa, this makes the burger taste phenomenal.” -Thrillist   Tres-Dollar-Tapas Happy Hour Café Ba-Ba-Reeba: “Named the grandaddy of Lincoln Park’s tapas joints, Café Ba-Ba-Reeba has…

Want To Stay Warm This Fall? Try Our Spiked Apple Cider

It’s time to officially come to terms with the fact that…well, it’s going to become frosty (and I don’t mean the friendly snowman,) and fast. Suddenly, the idea of putting on five inch heels and going out (like I do that anyway) becomes a lot less appealing, and curling up with Netflix and a hot beverage becomes the ultimate Saturday night routine. Why not…
