When I woke up this morning slightly annoyed that my body would not let me sleep in, I immediately snapped out of it as I scrolled through my Twitter feed and saw WWD’s tweet about Rihanna being the next poster child for French fashion royalty: Balmain.
Balmain has always been a Rihanna favorite…but then again who doesn’t love the crazy, studded, embroidered, padded mini dresses they cook up? Pierre was once known for dressing French royalty, so the character of his designs makes sense…pure French luxury. Balmain’s borderline avant-garde creations suit Rihanna to a T, and this match must have been brought to us by the fashion Gods.
The ads, which have a 90’s twist to them, feature heavy gold chains, denim, and a baby pink herringbone jacket. Mel Ottenberg, who previously has worked with Opening Ceremony, and is currently RiRi’s main stylist, was the creative director of the campaign. Rihanna truly fits the Balmain edge, and I’m beyond excited to see what else there is in store.
