Fashion Focus, Chicago’s Fashion Week, is just a short week away. With this being said, I am currently trying to figure out my schedule, and thought you could use some help. These are my picks for events, shows, and everything fashion focused.

Fashion Focus: Chicago’s Fashion Week kicks-off on Tuesday, October 15 with Designer and Muse. Hosted by the City of Chicago and Michigan Avenue Magazine, the opening event will partner local celebrities in the creative industries (music, culinary, film, theater and dance) with a designer who will create a look for his or her “muse” to be showcased throughout the evening. Pairings will include: Maria Pinto and Jeanne Gang (architecture), Azeeaz Kahn and Alpana Singh (culinary), Shernett Swaby and Mindy Segal (culinary), Diego Rocha and Naomi Beckwith (visual arts) among others. The event is invitation-only for guests of Michigan Avenue Magazine; however there will be an opportunity for the general public to obtain a limited number of tickets via Fashion Focus Chicago social media (Facebook and Twitter: @FashionFocus) beginning October 1.

Featuring Sarah Stevenson from the Toronto Fashion Incubator and Christine Phung from the Atelier de Paris, an Incubator program in Paris. Chicago designers include: Lagi Nadeau, Shelby Steiner, Agnes Hamerlik, Randall Hill, Laura Takataka, Nicole Puszynski, J. Toor, Chicago Playground.

Join Paul Stuart and Esquire magazine for an evening reminiscent of another era. Celebrate the fall season in Rat Pack style, featuring classic music, complimentary cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres. The brand-new Paul Stuart and Phineas Cole fall 2013 merchandise and fabrics will be available for sale or special orders during the event. Menswear is one of the hottest trends this season and on Thursday, October 17 the Urban Shapeshifters will debut in Chicago. This FREE menswear event will feature local, national and international menswear designers including J. Cheikh, Michelle Tan, and Jack Cave from Chicago, Brandon Scott, Los Angeles and Rana Rojo, Miami. In partnership with Chicago’s Gallery Aesthete, international designers participating are: Boris Bidjan Saberi, Barcelona; Ann Demeulemeester, Antwerp and Comme de Garçons, Tokyo and Paris. FREE general admission tickets (limit 4) are available here on Tuesday, October 1 at 10am. General admission seating is not assigned and is on a first-come, first-served for seats, and then standing room only.

This full-scale theatrical runway presentation within a lavish European style setting is filled with surprises! Featuring the cities finest designers, complimented by several fashionable boutiques. Designers include: Tamra Ellingson, St. Frimpong, Elena Bobysheva, Sarah Church, Gary Gonzalez, Meekis, Cleons Clothing Co., Mira Couture, Bottega Contessa and Niala Conte. Featuring the NEXT GENERATION Fashion Design Challenge—a special presentation during the show introducing the freshest, emerging design talent. Both before and after the fashion presentation guests can meet and shop the collections of all out featured designers. Event emcees will include: Daniella Guzman, Morning News Anchor-NBC 5 Chicago, Alicia Roman, Meteorologist-NBC 5 Chicago and Special Award Presentation by: Corri McFadden, Owner, Edrop-off Luxury Consignment.

Stylechicago.com’s popular show will feature 10 spring 2014 looks from 10 Chicago-based designers. The VIP event begins at 6pm and the runway starts at 7:30pm. Designers include: Maria Pinto, Calvin Tran, Eva Pazola, Boris Powell, Lily & Migs, Michelle Tan, Hector-Javier MonArrez, Shalini Sharma and Shernett Swaby. Tickets are currently on sale at www.stylechicago.com and range from $35-$115.

This preview party fashion show and early buying evening event is a kickoff to the Modern Vintage Chicago shopping weekend, showcasing today’s trends with the theme ‘Vintage Apres Noir: Punk & Paper Dolls’ complete with a fashion installation, early buying privileges, drinks, treats, a DJ and entertainment. Tickets to benefit the Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum.
